EASTER 101
Easter is around the corner. Easter is a Christian celebration of the events that led to the death and resurrection of
Jesus Christ. Each year , Jesus Christ is celebrated twice. First in the month of April and second in December
during which his birth is commemorated. The thrust of this piece is to draw attention to the subject of his doctrine-
LOVE.
CHARITY means LOVE. Charity was the emphasis of Christ's doctrine.Looking at major happenings around the
world such as 1) The Tsunami in Japan 2)The earthquake in Haiti 3) The political uprising in countries like Egypt
and Libya , there is a greater call to donate to Charity. Charitable donations reflect the character of Christ for the
Easter celebrations.Donation to Charity must be seen as a civic duty. Charitable donations to countries where
natural disasters have occurred would make the Easter one to remember. Donation to Charity helps alleviate
suffering in major war-torn countries around the world. The mess created by military dictators in major African
countries and problems of Child prostitution, starvation and malnutrition should give every one of us more reasons
to give.People who suffer from down's syndrome , mesothelioma and other forms of cancer, AIDS, Malaria and the
likes must be made to feel our friendship this season.
This is a holy week. It is the passover week in which Jesus took the cup of wine ,that symbolized his blood ,and
gave it to his disciples. He also gave them bread to represent his body. As we prepare with various Easter recipes to
entertain guests and friends, let us remember those without the means to have the best life has got to offer.
